Oakdale Seeking Volunteer, Acorn Award Nominations

The city is ready to take nominations for the Volunteer of the Year award and for the Acorn Award.

It's awards season in Oakdale.

The city is seeking nominations for the Volunteer of the Year Award, which honors those in the community who go above and beyond to lend a hand. The city had been offering this award to three or four volunteers a year since 1998, but in 2002 the city council modified the award to go toward one person.

The city will be accepting nominations until Nov. 1.

The city doesn't stop at recognizing volunteers. It will also give out the Acorn Award to the property that is the most appealing. The winning property owner will receive a gift card from a local nursery as well as an Acorn Award sign.

The deadline for the Acorn Award nominations is July 15. Nomination forms are on the city's website.
