Nicholson, a longtime resident of Mahtomedi, will supervise technical and career programs such as Auto Service Technology, Criminal Justice, Paramedics, Business, Marketing and Interior Design. Nicholson started at Century in 1991 in the Continuing Education/Customized Training Division. She became the dean there in 2004. Prior to her work at Century, she was employed as a social worker in Washington County.

Nicholson has her master’s degree in adult education from the University of Minnesota, and her bachelor’s degree in social welfare, also from the University. She and her husband, Ben, have three children who all attended Mahtomedi High School and graduated from college.

“A common thread for my career is that I have always been in the business of supporting people who are changing their lives,” said Nicholson. “It is both exciting and rewarding to help people who want to create new pathways for themselves. The programs I work with provide education to prepare people for great jobs.”

Andrew Nesset began teaching English at Century 14 years ago and has been active on many committees outside of the classroom. As a dean, he sees himself as an instructional leader and a problem-solver who helps make other people’s jobs easier.

“I believe in Century’s mission to offer students a rigorous but compassionate approach to education,” said Nesset. “Century has to maintain its high standards, but we also have to help our students get where they want to go. For many of our students, Century is not the end, it’s a pathway.”

Nesset earned his a master’s degree in English from Idaho State University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
