$300 at Sport Clips, Dirty Dishes Domestic, Bear Sighting?: Oakdale Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Oakdale Police Department from April 5-12.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

April 5

A resident at the 7100 block of 37th Street reported that someone placed a landscaping brick between the front door and screen door of the home.

A car parked at LA Fitness had two windows smashed, but nothing was missing from the vehicle.

A resident at the 600 block of Gentry Avenue was advised of the city’s burning ordinances.

A student at Tartan High School was cited for underage drinking.

Men involved in a report of a large fight at the 1100 block of Granada Avenue told police they were just messing around.

The Oakdale Fire Department helped ventilate a home at the 2000 block of Gresham Avenue after an oven fire. The oven was self-cleaning and a pan had been left inside it.

Police were called about harassing text and Facebook messages. Officers made contact with the culprit, who told them if the person “wants to be a punk, he can.” The messages weren’t threatening in nature.

A resident called police about a man walking into the woods with a suitcase near the 6200 block of 13th Street. Officers checked the area but did not find anyone.

Police were called to Buffalo Wild Wings about an intoxicated man. Officers found him in the lobby; he had been looking for his car in the lot. He registered a .30 on a preliminary breath test and was transported to Ramsey County detox.

April 6

Police were called about a domestic disturbance at the 7800 block of 21st Street. Officers learned it was an argument about dirty dishes and no assault occurred.

A resident at the 2300 block of Homestead Avenue reported seeing a small black bear. Police checked the area but did not see a bear.

A car parked at the Tartan Ice Arena had a window smashed and items stolen from it.

Police were called about an unruly customer at Guaranty Bank. The 65-year-old man was yelling and swearing and appeared to make an attempt to jump over the counter. Officers were to check surveillance footage.

April 7

There was a report of two men chasing someone down the street at the 6900 14th Street. Officers checked the area but didn’t find anything.

A resident asked officers to pick up some of his property and bring to the police department to pick it up. When told that it was not a police matter, the man became unhappy and said he would call back and speak to the police chief.

Police were unable to locate suspects possibly passing around a bong in a car along Goodwin Avenue.

April 8

There were complaints of a campsite at the 6200 block of 13th Street.

A car was reported stolen from the 6200 block of 40th Street.

A man will likely be charged with domestic assault following an incident at the 1500 block of Heath Avenue.

There was a complaint of a resident feeding deer at the 7700 block of 44th Street West.

A mailbox at the 2500 block of Geneva Avenue was run over.

April 9

A shoving match between a renter and property manager broke out at the 500 block of Gentry Avenue. The renter had not been following rules. No criminal charges were requested.

A man was cited for theft at Mills Fleet Farm after he stole a $4.99 keychain.

April 10

An employee at Sport Clips called police after two men came in, got haircuts, then purchased several items. All told, they used a credit card for more than $300 worth of goods and services. The employee thought the credit card may have been stolen. Police investigated, and identified the men on Facebook bragging about large purchases at Best Buy and Guitar Center. The card had not been reported stolen. Officers planned to follow up on the matter.

Several items were stolen from a home at the 7500 block of Fifth Street North that was burglarized. The front door had been forced open.

Police were able to remove a feral, “aggressive” cat from beneath a deck at a home at the 7800 block of 29th Street North.

Someone keeps driving over the lawn of a home at the 7500 block of Upper 24th Street.

There were reports of vehicle break-ins in the lot of Studio 99.
