Charges: ‘Daddy Took the Knife from Her’

Oakdale woman charged with felony following incident in which she allegedly brandished a knife while her husband was holding their infant child.

An Oakdale woman faces a felony charge after she allegedly threatened her husband with a knife while he was holding their infant during an incident earlier this month.

Mary Ayah Aban, 32, was charged with making terroristic threats and a misdemeanor domestic assault count following the April 19 incident.

Just after midnight, Oakdale police were dispatched to an apartment at the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue.

Officers arrived and found Aban and her husband, who told them during an argument she picked up a knife and threatened to kill him while he was holding their child, according to the complaint.

Aban told police she knew why they were there, but denied that she threatened her husband with the knife, the complaint says.

When she made that statement, however, another child, approximately 5-6 years old, said “Daddy took the knife from her,” according to the complaint.

A knife was found on the kitchen counter of the apartment.

If convicted on both charges, Aban faces up to five years and 90 days in prison and $11,000 in fines.
