The homeowner told the deputy that Blackstock arrived at her residence in a cab and seemed to be intoxicated. She let him inside since bad weather was forecasted for the day.

An ambulance arrived to treat Blackstock's injuries, but Blackstock struggled with the ambulance crew.  The Sheriff's Deputy helped the crew hold Blackstock down on the gurney when Blackstock threatened to take the deputy's gun and "kill" the deputy. The deputy reported that Blackstock tugged at his holster and gripped his gun. The deputy then punched Blackstock and twisted his arm to release his grip on the gun. Blackstock continued to yell profanities and continued making threats to grab the gun and kill the deputy.

Blackstock was eventually restrained and brought to Regions Hospital.

The court put Blackstock on probation for five years under certain conditions, including spending 68 days in jail with 51 days credited, having no contact with the victim, completing mental health programming, attending Alcoholics Anonymous and paying $500 in fines.
