Coyote Sighting, BB Gun Shot, Marijuana: Oakdale Police Blotter

Here is a selection of incidents that the Oakdale Police Department responded to between Aug. 11 and Aug. 14.

The following is a summary of some of the incidents that occurred in Oakdale between Aug. 11 and Aug. 14 as provided by the Oakdale Police Department.

If arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 11

  • Two 19-year-old men were busted for trying to smoke marijuana. The men were parked in a vehicle on the 7000 block of 28th Street. Officers checked the vehicle and saw one of the men trying to hide a marijuana cigaratte. The man was cited for possessing marijuana. 
  • A 15-year-old male was treated at St. John's Hospital for a hand injury caused by a BB gun. The boy said he was unintentionally shot in his right hands by another boy playing with the BB gun in their backyard. The boys' a parents were notified.

Aug. 12

  • A man reported several items were stolen from his unlocked vehicle on the 7600 block of Upper 20th Street, including a digital camera, $100 cash and $20 in loose coins. An open bag of candy and a glove were left in the vehicle and entered into evidence.
  • A woman on the 1800 block of Granite Avenue reported susicious activity. She left the residence at 3:30 p.m. and locked the front door and turned off all lights. When she returned the front door was open and the hallway light was on. There was no evidence of forced entry and no items seemed to be missing.
  • Officers responded to a report of a suicidal male on the 7000 block of 28th Street. The male was reportedly cutting himself and destroying property after becoming upset about consequenses for having a party while the homeowners were away. The male told officers he was not suicidal.
  • A 1997 Maroon Dodge minivan was reported stolen on the 900 block of Greenway Avenue. The van was unlocked. There are no suspects at this time.
  • A car was broken into on the 2200 block of Helena Avenue. There was forced entry to the front driver's side door. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle.

Aug. 13

  • Officers responded to a report at the in Oakdale regarding a woman in her mid-30s walking around the parking lot asking people for money. 

Aug. 14

  • Officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of 45th Street where a woman reportedly saw a coyote in her backyard. When officers arrived they saw the coyote run into the wooded area by Upper 45th Street and Granada Avenue.
