Developing: Student Slashed by Knife Wielding Acquaintance in Oakdale

Two news outlets are reporting a Tartan High School student was injured in the encounter.

UPDATE (Friday, 11:35 p.m.) The altercation between two students Thursday appears to have injured both the young man wielding a knife and a Tartan High School student.

One teen will face charges after he was arrested in connection to the incident. He injured himself in the attack with a slash to the hand.

His target, a Tartan sophomore, was stabbed in the leg.

Details are still coming to light, but a Tartan High School student and at least one other person were reportedly struck by an acquaintance wielding a knife Friday afternoon, then taken to the Oakdale high school where he was treated by first responders.

The incident was captured via social media by St. Paul Pioneer Press reporter Tad Vezner, who tweeted the teen “slashed in fingers, another stabbed in leg by other teen just south of oakdale high school. Student slashed was sophomore at tartan.”

Vezner, who tweets with the handle @SPnoir, also reported at least one teen knew his assailant.

CBSLocal.com, operated in the Twin Cities by WCCO, is also sending a reporter to the scene.

Patch will have more on the story as it unfolds.
