Fire Leaves Oakdale Home with Smoke Damage

A fire at a home on Heather Ridge Road started in the area of the dryer.

Smoke damage from a laundry room fire Thursday morning has left an Oakdale home temporarily unlivable, said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Wold.

The Oakdale Fire Department was called to the fire in the 4700 block of Heather Ridge Road around 9:30 a.m., he said.

Wold said the fire was relatively small, and Oakdale firefighters were able to handle it without help from other departments. Smoke filled the home, he said.

The fire started in the area of the dryer, he said, but the exact cause is still under investigation. Lint buildup or an equipment malfunction are possibilities, he said.
