Grass Fire Only Incident During Fourth of July

Police and Fire Officials reported a successful Fourth of July event with minimal incidents.

The Oakdale Fire Department responded to a small grass fire in the area of 50th Street and Hadley Avenue around midnight Wednesday night.

There were no injuries or damage to the area besides burned grass in the open field. The fire was likely a result of illegal fireworks, said Fire Chief Jeff Anderson.

Besides the small fire, Oakdale made it through the holiday without incidents. The Fourth of July is often one of the busiest times of year for the fire department, but this year was unevental, Anderson said.
