Guilty Again? Both Sides Rest in Oakdale Woman's 2nd Trial for Killing Infant
A verdict for Nicole Beecroft could be a month or more off, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.
Prosecution and defense have rested their cases in the second trial of Nicole Beecroft for the death of her infant at her Oakdale home six years ago, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press:
"Beecroft, now 24, was 17 when she gave birth to a full-term baby girl in the basement of her Oakdale home in April 2007. Shortly after the birth, Beecroft stabbed the infant, wrapped her in towels, put the bundle in a trash bag and placed it in a waste bin outside her house. ...
"Beecroft was convicted in December 2008 ... But her conviction was overturned last year by the Minnesota Supreme Court, based on the interference of prosecutors not involved in the case that influenced expert witnesses to not testify for the defense. The state high court said Beecroft's rights to due process were violated."
