Herding Cats, Baby Backlash, $100,000 in Expense Reports: Oakdale Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Oakdale Police Department from April 12-17.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

April 12

There was a report of a dog chasing and killing geese near Tanners Lake. Police arrived and tried to help the owner capture the dog without success. The husky later returned home.

Police were called about a fight along Sixth Street near Goodview Avenue. One party jumped out in front of another’s car, and a confrontation ensued. They have had ongoing issues, and police advised them to avoid each other.

April 13

Officers made sure a group of drunken, unruly patrons at Pinz left without incident.

Police responded to a verbal argument between roommates at the 2200 block of Hallmark Avenue that started over vacuuming.

Police discussed safety issues with a parent after finding a baby unattended in the back seat of a car parked in the lot of Caribou Coffee. The woman told an officer she thought the complaint was “unreasonable” and car theft and kidnapping “don’t happen.” A copy of the incident was forwarded to Washington County Social Services.

One driver hospitalized and another was cited for inattentive driving and driving after suspension following a three-car crash along 10th Street at Heron Avenue North.

April 14

A resident called police about a truck that had been parked at the 4100 block of Goodwin Avenue North for days. Police learned it had been stolen during a burglary elsewhere.

Police provided a resident at the 1700 block of Hale Avenue North with the number of an animal-control company after a man called about squirrels in the walls of the home.

An intoxicated man was found sleeping in his ex-girlfriend’s car at the 1200 block of Glenbrook Avenue. He thought it was his own car, registered a .269 on a preliminary breath test and was cited.

April 15

The rear window of a car parked at Motion Tech Auto was broken and several items were reported stolen.

A car parked at Park Tool was broken into and more than $2,500 worth of items were reported stolen.

Police contacted management at the Eastgate Apartments after receiving a complaint about tenants who let their cats roam free on the property.

Police logged into evidence a threatening letter from a man’s son claiming he had obtained a permit to carry a firearm permit.

A man was arrested following a domestic violence incident at the 6400 block of 55th Street North.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Hallmark Circle on a report of a loud bank. Officers arrived and found a ruptured water bottle with brown liquid around it. Nobody in the area saw who put the item there or set it off.

April 16

An Oakdale man turned in to the police department a pistol he purchased that came back stolen out of Virginia.

Police helped a man at the 2200 block of Hilo Avenue release an opossum that had been captured in a live trap.

Police were called to the 4700 block of Greenwich Road on a dispute between neighbors. One was playing loud music, and the other was accused of breaking a doorbell by ringing it excessively. Officers advised them to work out the issues.

April 17

The owner of Versa-Lok called police about an employee he suspected of falsifying expense reports. The charges were in excess of $100,000. The investigation is pending.

After failing to signal a turn near the 7600 block of 10th Street, a driver was booked on suspicion of DWI.
