A Grant man faces a felony charge after he allegedly swindled $137,167 from an Oakdale company.
Joseph Terrence Waldoch, 44, was working as a supervisor for Versa Lok when he allegedly made hotel reservations and canceled them, but submitted receipts and received reimbursements from the company, according to the criminal complaint.
The company president on April 17 contacted Oakdale police about the alleged thefts.
An internal investigation of Waldoch—who had authority to make travel arrangements for himself and sales associates—uncovered a handwritten list of reservations and cancelation numbers for several hotels, the complaint says, and police contacted 96 of them, with 64 responding he had made and canceled reservations.
Bank records showed company reimbursements went into Waldoch’s account, according to the complaint.
The day before the company president contacted police, he confronted Waldoch about matter, and the Grant man asked if he could arrange a repayment plan, the complaint says.
If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
