Man Charged With Animal Torture After Oakdale Family's Cat Dies

The man said the cat's injuries were accidental.

A 34-year-old Cottage Grove man allegedly killed the cat and extensively damaged the home of an Oakdale family that he was staying with, the Pioneer Press reports.

Scott Eberspacher admitted to causing damage to the home—which included breaking items and making holes in the walls—but said he didn't know where the cat was, according to the report.

After the cat was found a week later in the family's garage, he said he accidentally injured the cat by falling on a coffee table and then landing on it, the report says.
