UPDATE: Man Arrested for Bomb Threat, Oakdale Bank Evacuated

Lake Elmo Bank in Oakdale was evacuated Wednesday morning after a man walked up to a drive-through window stating he had a bomb.

The Oakdale Police Department released the name of the man who made bomb threats at Lake Elmo Bank in Oakdale Wednesday morning.

Lake Elmo Bank was evacuated early Wednesday morning when Matthew Allen Klemmer, 45, of St. Paul, walked up to a drive-through window claiming he had a "threatening device" and demanded to speak to federal agents.

Klemmer is currently being held in Washington County Jail pending formal charges.

During the investigation officers found an item that Klemmer left at the bank. Members of the St. Paul Bomb Squad x-rayed the item at the scene and did not detect any explosive materials. Officers believe this was the same item Klemmer used when making his threats. 

The Oakdale Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate the incident. Police have not released any motive for the threats.

Oakdale Police received the call about the threat at 7:41 a.m. The man had parked a white motorcycle in front of the bank's doors before walking to the bank's drive-through window. 

The Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Woodbury Police Department assisted Oakdale police in apprehending Klemmer at the scene.

Officers arrived at and used a Taser gun to subdue the suspect. He was arrested and booked in Washington County Jail at 8:11 a.m. 

The bank and area businesses were evacuated. There were no injuries. 

Oakdale Police, the FBI, the Woodbury Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the St. Paul Bomb Squad assisted at the scene.
