Man Sentenced for Breaking Into Oakdale Business

A North Branch man was found guilty of third-degree burglary.

A North Branch man has been found guilty of breaking into an Oakdale business and stealing computers. 

Mark Edward Beyer, 29, of North Branch, was sentenced by Washington County District Court. 

Police were dispatched to Safe Reflections, located at the 3300 block of Granada Avenue, on May 15, 2010. The victims reported a burlgary that occurred overnight at the business, according to the criminal complaint.

Two windows had been broken, including the window of the owner's office. Officers observed fresh blood on broken glass and on a folder on the floor in one of the offices.

Police found two sockets in the grass near a window. They also found a steel center punch under a table in the office.

Two laptop computers were stolen from the office, each valued at $1,000. 

Police sent the blood samples to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis. The sample matched the DNA of Beyer, according to the complaint.

Beyer was sentenced to 28 months in prison and stayed execution of his sentence for five years under certain conditions, including serving 302 days in jail with credit for 302 days served in jail; pay restitution of $1,884 to Safe Reflections; comply with mental health programming; random testing; attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and have no contact with Safe Reflections.
