Man Sentenced in Bierstube Pull Tab Burglary

The Brooklyn Park man had been arrested in connection with other burglaries.

After speaking with their counterparts in other departments, Oakdale police discovered the identity of a man involved in a 2012 burglary at the Bierstube.

Jason Evan Mann, 53, was recently sentenced to two years in prison, running concurrently with time being served.

He was convicted in Washington County District Court of possession of burglary tools in connection with the April 2012 break-in at the bar, during which thieves stole $5,751 from a pull tab booth, which raises money for the Tartan Youth Hockey Association.

The men used crowbars to break open the rear door to the restaurant. The damage to the door was at least $2,500.

In addition to breaking into the pull tab booth, the duo also broke into an ATM at the restaurant, causing $2,142 worth of damage.

An Oakdale investigator spoke with a Woobury police officer, who said the description of one of the men involved sounded like Mann, who has a distinct limp and had been arrested several times in the last year for burglarizing area businesses.

Oakdale officers were informed that Mann was being held at Hennepin County Jail and went to interview him on May 3, 2012. Mann had been arrested on May 2, 2012.

Oakdale police also received information from a Bloomington police investigator who had surveillance footage of two men burglarizing a Subway restaurant around 3 a.m. on April 30, 2012. The two men were driving a U-haul truck and matched the description in Bierstube's surveillance footage.

Mann must also pay restitution in connection with the Oakdale crime.
