Mark Mauer on KARE 11: 'I Brought This Upon Myself'

"I didn't kill anybody. I didn't murder anybody. I made a mistake," the former Hill-Murray coach told KARE 11's Jay Olstad about his February arrest for soliciting prostitution in Fridley.

In an extended sit-down interview with KARE 11, former Hill-Murray High School football coach Mark Mauer said of his February arrest for soliciting prostitution in a police operation at the LivInn Hotel in Fridley: "I made a bad decision and I will have to live with it for the rest of my life."

Earlier this week, FOX 9 reported Mauer agreed to pay $500 in court costs and take a “Breaking Free” class, as part of a deal in which Fridley prosecutors agreed to drop charges.

In a video and web report, as well as an extended video interview, KARE 11 reporter Jay Olstad interviewed Mauer about the incident:

When asked if he was going to the hotel to have sex, he said, "Without a doubt, my intent was to meet this gal and to be in the room. Without a doubt my intentions were exactly that."

That woman, who he met online turned out to be a police officer. But Mauer tells KARE 11 after about three minutes in the hotel room, he changed his mind, adding that he never gave the woman money.
