Oakdale Fire Department Takes Wing-Eating Title

Oakdale Police Department Investigator Barry Smith was named the Top Gun in the individual competition.

Oakdale’s police and fire departments both took home a title in the hot wings challenge at Monday night.

The fire department won the team title by one-and-a-half chicken wings, however Oakdale Police Department Investigator Barry Smith was named the Top Gun for finishing 12 wings in 47 seconds.

In diplomatic fashion, Oakdale City Council member Stan Karwoski told the teams before the event he was rooting for a draw.

First the two groups competed against each other as teams, seeing which group could finish all of their collective chicken wings first.

Then the fastest two eaters from each group—Smith and officer Brian Krook from the police side, and firefighters Nick Markfort and Ryan Petersen—competed to see who could finish a dozen wings the fastest.
