Oakdale Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Neighbor

Joshua Adewale Olaosebikan faces a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge.

A 32-year-old Oakdale man faces a felony sexual assault charge after he allegedly forced himself on a neighbor in his apartment building in October 2012.

Joshua Adewale Olaosebikan lives in the same apartment complex as the alleged victim, and the incident occurred after she asked to use his phone on Oct. 6, 2012, according to the criminal compliant.

The woman told police she knew Olaosebikan; they attend the same local college, the complaint says.

When she asked to use his phone that day, he suggested they go up to his 40th Street apartment because it was cold outside, according to the complaint.

After she activated her phone, Olaosebikan came on to her, groped her and said he wanted to have sex with her, the complaint alleges. She told him no, reminded him that he’s married, and he forced her to have sex with him, according to the complaint.

After the incident, Olaosebikan sent the woman several text messages asking for her forgiveness, and in an Oct. 13 interview with police he said he wasn’t sure whether the sex was consensual, the complaint says.

A DNA sample from Olaosebikan matched evidence obtained from a Regions Hospital rape kit.

If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.

Joshua Adewale Olaosebikan is charged with rape. Call it what it is. The woman asked to use his phone, not be raped. And this happened in October 2012. Kris Janisch, do you have a report from this incident? There is nothing I can see filed through the Minnesota Court Public Access web site. His case doesn't appear on the calendar or criminal docket. What is the venue? What office is prosecuting this case? This is a very serious crime. There aren't other reports in the media. Please shed some light on this. I hope this isn't a situation where the woman is not believed. I cannot imagine the pain for the victim. In fact, I cannot imagine the pain for this man's wife either.

I got it via the county's listing of initial court appearances. They sent over the complaint. Was surprised nobody else reported it. Washington County District Court.

What was the date of the appearance? And I'm very curious how they had this man's name entered. Could you clarify any of that, or give the court file no?

I looked it up on MNCIS, like you probably did, and didn't see it there. I'll see if I can track it down from the county.

Any luck?
