Oakdale Man Charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct

The 65-year-old man allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old on multiple occasions.

An Oakdale man is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl repeatedly between September of 2010 and March of 2011, according to a Washington County District Court complaint.

Gerald E. Briggs, 65, allegedly had sex with the girl in his Oakdale home on six occasions, the complaint says.

The girl’s family learned of the alleged abuse in mid-April and confronted Briggs about it, the complaint says. Briggs admitted something happened, according to the complaint.

A “concerned citizen” reported the alleged abuse to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in late April, according to the complaint.

For each of two of the counts of criminal sexual conduct, Briggs faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and $35,000 in fines. For the other count, he faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.

Briggs is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court on June 3.
