Oakdale Man Charged with Drug Sale, Possession

An Oakdale man is charged with allegedly selling methamphetamine and being in possession of marijuana.

An Oakdale man was charged recently with allegedly selling methamphetamine.

John J. Stanek, 34, is charged in Washington County District Court with third-degree narcotic sale and fifth-degree drug possession following an investigation last December.

According to the court complaint, on Dec. 9, 2010, Oakdale police initiated a traffic stop during which they found 10 grams of methamphetamine in a man’s vehicle. The man told police he bought the drugs from another man named “John” who lived at Stanek’s address, the complaint says.

The next day, police executed a search warrant at Stanek’s home, the complaint says. They found Baggies, scales and about 221 grams of a substance they thought was marijuana in the freezer.

For the charge of third-degree narcotic sale, Stanek faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison (30 years if it’s a second or subsequent conviction) and $250,000 in fines. The charge of fifth-degree drug possession carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and $10,000 in fines for a first conviction or 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines for a second or subsequent conviction.
