Oakdale Man Charged with Felony Domestic Assault

Nathaniel Sweezy is accused of punching his girlfriend in the nose.

An Oakdale man has been charged with punching his Lakeville girlfriend in the face and giving her a bloody nose.

Nathaniel Sweezy, 50, faces a felony count of domestic assault, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He remains in the Dakota County Jail in Hastings on a $5,000 bond.

According to the complaint, police were called to a home on Foliage Avenue in Lakeville on April 21 on an assault report.

A woman at the home told police that she and Sweezy had begun arguing earlier in the evening in the parking lot of the home where she was staying, then went into the house.

During a subsequent conversation, the woman told police, Sweezy told her, “I should just slap the [expletive] out of you.”

Sweezy then left, but returned shortly afterward and punched the woman in the leg and the face, according to the complaint.

The victim grabbed her cell phone and told Sweezy that she was going to call the police; he took the phone away from her and fled, the complaint says.

Sweezy’s criminal record includes convictions for domestic assault, violating a protection order, disorderly conduct and fifth-degree assault.

An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for July 18 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
