Oakdale Man Gets 5 Years Probation for Possessing Meth

Mark D. Paipal, 37, will spend five years on probation for possessing methamphetamine if he meets several conditions.

An Oakdale man was convicted for fifth-degree drug possession after his mother showed Oakdale Police Officers his small stash of methamphetamine.

In January, Oakdale Police Officers responded to a report of a violent male possibly on drugs. When officers arrived they spoke with Mark Paipal, 37, who was talkative, fidgety, pale and sweating, according to the criminal complaint.

Paipal's mother had called the police because she suspected he was under the influence of drugs. Paipal denied using any drugs.

The complaint states that the police officers told Paipal to return to his room and avoid contact with his mother. As the officers were leaving the residence they heard the mother yell, "Help me! Help me!" from the basement. The mother was yelling, "I found it!" She had found a pouch with a pipe and two plastic baggies filled with methamphetamine.

Paipal was convicted in Washington County District Court. He will spend five years on probation under certain conditions, including random drug testing, attending AA/NA meetings, finding a sponsor within 60 days, paying $100 in fees and finding and maintaining a job.
