Oakdale Man Sentenced for Strangling Girlfriend

The incident happened at the 6000 block of 52nd Street in Oakdale in September 2012.

An Oakdale who man picked up his girlfriend by the neck and carried her down a hallway of an apartment during a September 2012 altercation was sentenced to 15 days of Sentence to Service and must attend anger management classes.

Travis Glen Lindberg, 23, was convicted of domestic assault following the Sept. 1, 2012, incident, which started with a verbal altercation and escalated after the victim tried to call police.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police were called to an apartment at the 6000 block of 52nd Street on an assault report and found a woman with a bloody face. She told police her boyfriend had assaulted her.

They had gotten into an argument and she asked him not to leave, getting between Lindberg and the door.

He then grabbed her by the throat and threw her against a wall. When she went to get her phone to call police, he said he was “going to make it worth it,” the complaint reads, and took the cell phone from her and threw it into the hallway of the apartment complex.

Lindberg then pulled the woman’s hair and slammed her head into a wall and picked her up by the neck and carried her for about 10 seconds.

She told police he had assaulted her in the past.
