Oakdale Police Blotter: Apartment Burglarized, $10K Worth of Items Stolen

In other reports, a resident's car was damaged two days in a row.

More than $10,000 worth of items were stolen in the burglary of an apartment in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Sometime between 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, and 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, someone pried open the resident’s locked door and stole Harley Davidson leather jackets, collectibles, jewelry, crystal and other items, the report says.

It appears that the burglars used the resident’s white kitchen garbage bags to carry items from the apartment, the report says.

May 23:

  • On May 21, someone passed a counterfeit $20 bill at .
  • An Oakdale resident reported that $356 worth of fraudulent charges were made from her bank account at multiple businesses in Florida.
  • A resident in the 2800 block of Henslow Avenue reported that $1,000 in Canadian cash, 50 silver dollars, 50 $2 bills and a revolver were stolen from his gun safe. He had last opened the safe in February, and at that time everything was in the safe. The man said a family member had stolen from the safe four years ago, but the relative denied taking the items.

May 24:

  • Oakdale police helped the Minnesota State Patrol clear the collision of an SUV and a semitrailer in the 3000 block of Interstate 694. The SUV went through a sound barrier fence on the west side of the highway around 6:42 a.m.
  • Between 12 and 12:35 p.m., someone broke out a window on a van parked at and stole a purse containing gift cards and a $700 check. The property damage estimate was $300.
  • A complainant reported that around 4:30 p.m. on May 23, his vehicle was hit by a softball that cracked his taillight while parked in the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue. The next day, the vehicle was struck in the hood causing a minor dent. He was advised to park away from the softball field to prevent further damage.
  • Sometime between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked at Tanners Lake Sport N Center and stole a wallet. The wallet was recovered, but one debit card was missing.

May 25:

  • A resident in the 6400 block of 50th Street reported that someone stole three pieces of outgoing mail containing checks from their mailbox. A neighbor later found the checks at 50th Street and Georgia Boulevard and returned them to the complainant.
  • Someone stole three plants overnight with a total value of $60 from Linders Garden Greenhouse at 7053 10th Street.

May 26:

  • Between 2:45 and 3:15 p.m., someone stole a $130 cell phone while its owner was on a school bus.
