Oakdale Police Blotter: Business Victim of Weekend Break-In

In other reports, a dog sent a 5-year-old boy to the hospital and a woman's billfold was stolen from her cart at Rainbow Foods.

Someone broke into Universal Recycling Technologies and stole two computers over the weekend, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

An employee at the business, located at 3220 Granada Avenue, reported early Monday morning that a window had been broken out and the computers were missing, the report says.

Three alarms went off Monday morning at 3:35, 4:07 and 4:23 a.m., but they weren’t reported to law enforcement, according to the report.

The computers were each valued at $675 and the damage estimate for the window was $1,500 according to the report.

Police recovered a partial fingerprint from the scene of the crime, the report says.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police April 15-16:

April 15:

  • A woman called police to report that in 2009 a former classmate choked her with a blanket.
  • An Oakdale woman reported that she walked away from her cart while at and when she returned her wallet was missing from her purse. The wallet contained financial cards, a driver’s license a blank check and insurance cards. The total value of the items stolen was $215.
  • A dog was quarantined after sending a young boy to the hospital. Witnesses told police that a boxer/Labrador retriever mix attacked a 5-year-old boy who tried to feed the dog an ice cube while it was eating a bone. The incident happened in the 7700 block of Seventh Street. The boy had to get stitches to the nose and neck.
  • About $785 worth of items were stolen from an open garage in the 6500 block of 53rd Street sometime in the past month. Stolen items included a chainsaw, gas can, socket set and socket air tools.
  • A resident in the 4800 block of Grenwich Trail reported that a 3-inch hole had been made in her garage door, causing $200 damage. Police suspect a baseball hit the door.
  • A man reported that his girlfriend pointed a handgun at him while arguing and threatened to shoot him, in the 2500 block of Gershwin Avenue. Police found a loaded .22 caliber handgun at the home. Police arrested the woman, a 57-year-old from Oakdale.
  • Police stopped a vehicle that was driving on Hadley Avenue around 9 p.m. without any lights on. The driver had a suspended license, and the vehicle’s license plate didn’t match its vehicle identification number (VIN). Police had the vehicle towed pending further investigation.
