Oakdale Police Blotter: Expensive Sporting Goods Stolen

In other reports, multiple incidences of domestic assault were reported.

On the first day of summer, two Oakdale residents had their warm-weather sports gear stolen.

Someone stole a $700 set of golf clubs from the bed of a truck parked on the street in the 4100 block of Goodwin Avenue between 9 and 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

On the same day, a $788 mountain bike was stolen from a garage in the 2300 block of Helmo Avenue that the homeowner said was most likely left unlocked, another police report says. The bicycle is a red 2010 Gary Fisher Marlin model.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police June 20-21:

  • On June 18, three unauthorized purchases totaling $621 were made in Maryland and Delaware from an Oakdale man’s debit card account. On the same day, three unauthorized purchases totaling $133 were made from an Oakdale woman’s debit card account. It’s unclear how the card numbers were compromised.
  • A GPS device and loose change with a total value of $300 were stolen from a locked van parked in a driveway in the 7500 block of 22nd Street. It’s unclear how entrance was gained to the vehicle.
  • Between 6 p.m. June 14 and 6 a.m. June 15 someone stole a $700 trailer and $100 water tank that were unsecured from the south parking lot at Biolawn.
  • A 16-year-old boy was arrested in the 6700 block of 12th Street for allegedly damaging property in his home and punching his father in the face.
  • An Oakdale woman reported that someone fraudulently used her husband’s check card to purchase gas on three occasions in the Dominican Republic. The card was in his possession, and it is unclear how the account number was compromised.
  • A man who left his keys on the counter while making a purchase at June 18 said when he returned to the shop a few minutes later to retrieve his keys, they were gone.
  • A $130 drill, $20 laptop adapter and $80 GPS device were stolen from a locked vehicle parked in a lot in the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue. Police observed minor damage to the locking mechanism of the vehicle, which was used to gain entry.
  • A 24-year-old Oakdale woman reported that what started as a verbal domestic incident in a parking lot in the 6900 block of 10th Street escalated to the point where a 36-year-old St. Paul man strangled her and she was losing consciousness. The man also allegedly threatened to kill her.

June 21:

  • Someone broke out the passenger-side window of a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 5200 block of Granada Avenue causing $200 damage.
  • An Oakdale man reported that someone fraudulently used his debit card in Mexico between May 29 and June 19 to make $3,500 worth of withdrawals.
  • Police required that all tobacco products be removed from the shelves at after finding that the shop’s new owner did not have a tobacco license.
  • A resident in the 6400 block of 11th Street reported that two bicycles were stolen from his driveway around 12:15 p.m. One is a $300 BMX style bike and one is a $100 mountain bike. A garbage man working in the area had knocked on the man’s door to tell him that he saw two juveniles riding away on the bikes.
  • A teenager reported that his $149 skateboard was stolen from a locker between 8:45 a.m. and noon at .
  • Around 6 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at and located a group of people who smelled of alcohol and were arguing. A 27-year-old St. Paul man was cited for public consumption after police found he was drinking vodka out of a water bottle. The man was then cited again for returning to the beach three minutes later screaming profanities and, “drawing the attention of women and children on the beach,” according to the police report. He was arrested, and police found marijuana in his front pocket. A 19-year-old Landfall woman was cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly punching the man, and for minor consumption of alcohol.
