Oakdale Police Blotter: Jewelry Gone, so was Overnight Guest

In other reports, a hotel guest said valuables were stolen from his room and more than $1,000 worth of items were stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway.

A 22-year-old Oakdale woman reported Tuesday, March 6, that she noticed jewelry and cash missing from her home after a houseguest left, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

The woman let a man stay at her home in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue after being “out partying,” the report says. He arrived at about 2 a.m. and left at 10:30 a.m., according to the report. Afterward, she noticed that $20 was missing from her purse and a gold necklace worth $200 and a gold bracelet worth $250 were missing from her home, according to the report.

March 6:

  • Police responded to the 2400 block of Hadley Avenue on a report of juveniles throwing snowballs at vehicles around midnight. Police checked the area, but were unable to locate the juveniles.
  • A man staying at the hotel reported that he left his room around 8 a.m., and when he returned around 7 p.m. his door was open and his laptop, laptop case and a pair of shoes were missing from his room. The total value of the stolen items is $975. He said his room was cleaned while he was gone, and he was sure he left his door locked. 
  • An Oakdale man was arrested on a warrant for driving after revocation after being stopped in the 900 block of Gershwin Avenue around 6 p.m. He was also cited for giving false information to police. His date of birth was not readable due to the condition of his driver’s license, and police later found out he had given them the wrong birth year. He was also cited for failure to obtain a Minnesota driver’s license within 60 days.
  • An employee at reported that a 46-year-old Little Canada man who had been trespassed from all Menards stores was in the store trying to return suspected stolen items. He was cited for trespassing.
  • The rear license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked in a lot in the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue between Feb. 21 and March 6.
  • A GPS device, backpack and iPod docking station with a total value of $1,060 were stolen from a locked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 6500 block of 49th Street. The incident happened between midnight and 8 a.m. March 3.

March 7:

  • An officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the 200 block of Geneva Avenue.
  • There was a Dumpster fire in the 6900 block of 10th Street. When firefighters arrived around 5:55 a.m., it was smoldering only.
  • A car was keyed while parked in the 7300 block of 51st Street between 11: 30 p.m. March 6 and 5:45 a.m. the next morning. The damage estimate was $300.
