Oakdale Police Blotter: Man Punched Repeatedly by Stranger at Oakdale Movie Theater

In other reports, a pizza delivery driver's car was stolen from the restaurant parking lot and the tip jar went missing from a coffee shop's counter.

A 24-year-old Edina man reported at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday an unknown man punched him in the face several times at for unknown reasons, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

The man had a bruise under his left eye and a broken nose, the report says. The man’s girlfriend witnessed the assault, the report says.

He transported himself to Woodwinds Hospital, the report says. Police were in the process of getting surveillance video at the time of the report.

Nov. 15:

  • Someone smashed the front, passenger-side window out of a car parked in the 1000 block of Hadley Avenue, causing $200 damage, and stole a $150 GPS device between Nov. 11 and Nov. 15.
  • Someone stole an $800 adult tri-bicycle from a parking spot in an underground garage in the 5600 block of Hadley Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 1:30 p.m. the next day. The bike has white rims and a large basket on the back.
  • An Oakdale woman reported that a man stole her laptop while they were dating in July. The woman did not know the $1,100 laptop was gone until October, but she didn’t report it then because she didn’t have any proof. Then on Nov. 15, the man sent her a photo of the laptop and said she could have it back if she let him see their children.

Nov. 16:

  • While a delivery driver went into the restaurant for five minutes around 7:30 p.m., someone got into the unlocked, running car and drove off. The value of the car is $3,000, and a purse and items inside the vehicle are worth $735. 
  • An Oakdale woman reported that sometime on Nov. 10 or 11, someone made three fraudulent charges to her checking account totaling $147.
  • Police stopped a vehicle with dark tinted windows after seeing that its registered owner had a suspended license. Police arrested the man, a 30-year-old from St. Paul, for driving after suspension. During a search of his car prior to it being towed, police found bags of methamphetamine in the dashboard.
  • Police got a 911 hang-up call from a Bergen Plaza business. When police went to the business, they were told the call was about a parking violation of a semi truck driver delivering products to . Police spoke with the Smokedale manager and the truck driver, giving them a verbal warning for a fire lane violation and advising them of better alternatives to make deliveries. Police had received two previous calls about the same issue.

Nov. 17:

  • Oakdale police arrested a 29-year-old man at his home in the 2700 block of Helena Avenue after Cottage Grove police said he was wanted for his involvement in a felony domestic assault that had just occurred there.
  • An employee at reported that around 3:15 p.m. Nov. 16, someone stole a decorative tip jar worth $25 that contained about $30 in tips from the front counter.
  • A resident in the 2100 block of Hallmark Avenue reported that someone threw a bird feeder at his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m., causing substantial damage. It appeared that the bird feeder had been thrown from a moving vehicle. 
  • A 23-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were both seen at Regions Hospital after a physical fight in the hallway of a building in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue just after midnight. Both parties had physical marks from the fight.
