Oakdale Police Blotter: Man Pushes His Way Into Home, Makes Threats

In other reports, a car was stolen from the Rainbow Foods parking lot and police picked up a man who was flagging down cars on the interstate.

A man pushed his way into a home in the 3800 block of Granada Way Saturday, Jan. 28, and threatened those inside, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

A resident at the home reported that the father of her children showed up uninvited, according to the report. When she refused to open the door, he kicked it in, causing the jam to splinter, and then entered the residence, the report says. Once inside, he threatened the woman and witnesses, according to the report.

The person who had driven him to the home pulled him out of the residence, and then they drove off, the report says.

Police weren’t able to immediately locate the vehicle or talk to him by phone, and the case was pending at the time of the report.

Jan. 27:

  • A woman reported that while parked at the Pioneer Press warehouse in the 5200 block of Glenbrook Avenue, another woman opened the door of her van and started grabbing papers and hitting her jacket. The suspect said the woman had stolen her purse two days ago, and she was looking for it. Police are investigating the allegation.
  • Someone illegally dumped garbage in the Dumpster at an apartment building in the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue. The complainant got the person’s license plate number, and wanted them to be told to stop.
  • A manager at the gas station at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue turned over two $20 bills and one $50 bill that were counterfeit. The bills were taken in over the last month.
  • Police transported an 11-year-old boy to Children’s Hospital after he held a knife to his throat and threatened suicide.

Jan. 28:

  • Police had to take a man to the ground after he resisted being handcuffed in the parking lot at . Police ran the license plates numbers of the cars parked in the lot, and found that the registered owner of one had a body only warrant for not having a driver’s license. The man came out of the store, got into the vehicle and he refused to get out of it. Police physically removed him from the vehicle.
  • Police went to an off ramp from Interstate 694 at Highway 5 on a report that a man was walking in the area and flagging down passing cars. The man said he ran out of gas on the interstate. A Minnesota State Patrol officer took him into custody for DUI.
  • A man in the 2100 block of Hadley Avenue, who was incoherent, told another man he had been jumped by a few guys and then asked to use his cell phone to call a friend. When police arrived, the man requested a ride home, but he wouldn’t say what had happened—only that it had been a bad night.
  • A resident in the 7100 block of upper 36th Street reported finding footprints in the snow around her residence leading up to the deck. She believed they would have been made between 11 p.m. Jan. 27 and 7 a.m. Jan. 28.
  • A 28-year-old Oakdale woman received five threatening text messages between 1 and 2:30 a.m. saying they wanted to punch her in the face. She suspected it might be due to a recent breakup.
  • Someone shot a hockey puck through the window at the warming house causing $150 damage between 8 p.m. Jan. 27 and 12 p.m. the next day.

Jan. 29:

  • A man requested police assistance in contacting a 79-year-old man who had been sick for days and off of his medication. Police went to the 6400 block of 55th Street where a neighbor told police he had spoken with the man the previous day through his trailer, as he was too sick to come to the door. The fire department forced entry, and found the man unconscious and not breathing. Paramedics attempted resuscitation, but weren’t successful, and he was pronounced dead.
  • A car was stolen from the parking lot between 7 and 7:30 p.m. The owner said she either left the keys in the car or dropped them in the parking lot.
