Oakdale Police Blotter: Man Stuffs Laptop in Coat, Gets Away

A man stole a laptop and its accessories from Best Buy.

A man stole a $630 Asus laptop from Wednesday, Feb. 9, by stuffing it in his coat, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

The man took the laptop out of its box and hid the computer and all of its accessories in his coat, the report says. He then left without paying, according to the report.

The man is described as white, 25-30 years old, 6 feet tall and 170-190 pounds with short, light hair, according to the report.

 Following are other incidents that were reported Feb. 10:

  • Police pulled over a 22-year-old male driver from Woodbury at 19th Street and Helmo Avenue for speeding around 11:20 a.m. and found he had a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance.
  • A 17-year-old female reported that over the past few weeks unknown persons have been taking her car keys during lunch and class periods from . Five students admitted to driving and riding in the classmate’s vehicle without permission. The five students were cited for tampering with a motor vehicle and one of them was cited for disorderly conduct.
  • Police arrested Daniel N. Boron, 23, of Oakdale, in the 1000 block of Hillvale Avenue on felony controlled substance warrants from Washington County and Dakota County.
  • An employee in an office at 7200 Hudson Boulevard reported she had found gray cockatiel. The woman said she would hold on to the bird until the owner came forward.
  • Police arrested Joshua A. Major, 33, of Oakdale, in the 1400 block of Grosspoint Avenue on a warrant out of Ramsey County for a probation violation.
  • Police responded to for a report of a shoplifting in progress. A loss prevention officer reported a woman placed 27 items in her coat and tried to leave the store without paying. The woman, who attempted to steal $568 worth of items was booked into the Washington County Jail pending formal theft charges.
  • Police stopped a driver in the 6300 block of Highway 5 for a tail light violation. The man was arrested for having no Minnesota driver’s license. The driver identified himself with a driver’s license from Mexico.
