Oakdale Police Blotter: Neighbors Had Wheels, Landscape Rocks Stolen

In other reports, more theft of copper and a deer ran into a car on 10th Street.

Two neighbors in the 400 block of Gentry Avenue were hit by thieves overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, according to Oakdale Police Department reports.

When an officer was in the 400 block of Gentry Avenue around 8 a.m. Thursday, June 16, investigating the theft of all four tires from a car parked in a driveway, they found someone had also stolen the victim's neighbor’s landscaping blocks to prop the car up, according to a report.

The value of the wheels—described as 20-inch chrome wheels—is $1,500, according to the report. The man told police he would return his neighbor’s blocks after he got wheels for his car, a police report says.

June 14:

  • A deer ran into the driver’s side of a car heading west on 10th Street at Heron Avenue, causing the driver's side window to shatter and damaging the windshield. The driver’s side front fender, door and rear quarter panel were damaged. The deer got up and ran away, and the driver reported no injuries.
  • A resident in the 7100 block of Upper 17th Street reported that someone spray painted profanity on his garage door between June 12 and June 13.

June 15:

  • Between 11 p.m June 14 and 1 a.m. June 15 someone slashed two tires of a car parked in the driveway of a home in the 6500 block of 53rd Street causing $400 damage.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Geneva Avenue reported that between 10:30 p.m. June 14, and 2:50 p.m. June 15 someone entered her detached garage and stole her $300 GPS device from her unlocked vehicle.
  • A resident in the 1100 block of Goodview Avenue called police to report that someone had filled her mailbox with a yellow powder. Police found that the powder was crushed up chalk.
  • Three juveniles ages 12 through 14 had to hand over their BB guns after police got a report that they were shooting the guns at each other and benches, and pointing the guns at the playground.

June 16:

  • Between 11 p.m. June 15 and 7 a.m. June 16 someone slashed three tires on a vehicle parked in a lot in the 6200 block of 40th Street causing approximately $450 in damage.
  • A complainant at reported that between June 9 and 15 someone stole 12 copper heat exchangers from junked outdoor pool heaters at the business which were set to be recycled. The estimated value of the copper is $480.
  • A complainant reported that a woman driving a white vehicle collided with her car in the 400 block of Geneva Avenue and then followed her, yelling at her. Police observed white paint on the complainant’s car, however the other driver did not stop after the collision.
  • Police cited a 13-year-old boy who was caught trying to steal a Lady Gaga edition of US Magazine from .
  • An Oakdale police officer assisted a Minnesota State Patrol officer who was pulling over two vehicles in the 6100 block of Highway 5 in connection with a road rage incident. The passenger in one of the vehicles jumped out of his car and started going toward the state trooper with a metal cane in the air screaming profanities. Oakdale police assisted until the man was under control and his cane was removed.
