Oakdale Police Blotter: Police Chase Driver Down 10th Street

In other reports, a man used a forged prescription to get oxycodone and a 15-year-old was punched repeatedly at a basketball game.

Police chased the driver of a stolen vehicle down 10th Street traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph on Tuesday night, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

An Oakdale officer spotted the vehicle on westbound 10th Street at Interstate 694 around 10 p.m. and activated the squad car’s emergency lights and siren, the report says. That’s when the vehicle sped up, running a red light at 10th Street and Gershwin Avenue and then driving through the Geneva Avenue intersection at speeds over 100 mph, according to the report. Police terminated the chase at Geneva Avenue, the report says.

The driver was later located in the 6300 block of 13th Street, and arrested, according to the report. The passenger in the car was cited for tampering with a motor vehicle, the report says.

  • A resident in the 6300 block of 13th Street reported that her 17-year-old son took her car without permission. He told a friend he was leaving the state with his girlfriend. The suspect does not have a valid driver’s license.
  • Police stopped a driver in the 6700 block of 10th Street whose high beams were on. He said they were broken and wouldn’t shut off. Police found that the driver’s license was revoked, and there was no valid insurance on the vehicle. The vehicle was towed.  

Jan. 31:

  • An Oakdale man received a call stating he was a third-place winner of the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes, but in order to receive his money, he needed to send $685. He didn’t give any personal information or send any money.
  • A man used a forged prescription to obtain 150 tablets of oxycodone. The prescription was written out to a woman, whose identity appeared to have been stolen.
  • Two cars crashed into each other at 10th Street and Helmo Avenue around 7 p.m. A driver that was turning left from Helmo Avenue onto 10th Street turned in front of a driver heading south on Helmo Avenue. One driver sustained a minor head injury, but nobody was transported to the hospital. Both vehicles were towed, and one of the drivers was cited for failure to yield.
  • A 15-year-old reported that while he was watching a basketball game at , a classmate punched him about 20 times in the face. He had visible injuries, and his doctor confirmed he had an orbital fracture. Two classmates, and possibly two faculty members, witnessed the incident. The case was forwarded on for follow-up.
  • Police responded to the 4900 block of Heather Ridge Road on a report of a suspicious man wearing a Halloween mask. The man was gone on arrival.

Feb. 1:

  • A North St. Paul woman reported that her car was taken from the parking lot of a townhome complex in the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue between 9 p.m. and midnight Jan. 31. She said she was financing the vehicle and that she is behind on her payments, so it might have been repossessed.
