Oakdale Police Blotter: Police Find Dumped Animal Carcasses

In other reports, someone stole copper from a former gas station causing $1,000 damage.

An anonymous caller told police Thursday, April 14, that there were multiple animal carcasses in the woods near 12th Street and Goodview Avenue, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

The animals had been skinned and dumped off at the site, the report says. One of the animals appeared to be a coyote or a fox, and the rest are squirrels and a rabbit, the report says.

Police don’t know who dumped the animals, according to the report.

  • A utility pole at Granada Avenue and Granada Lane caught fire after a transformer blew out around 6 p.m. The extinguished the fire.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that on April 11 someone attempted to use her debit card to purchase a $1,600 Apple computer online. The complainant has her card, and does not know how her number was compromised.
  • A complainant reported that he purchased four Wild tickets for $60 from a man in the parking lot, but learned the tickets were fraudulent when he went to the game and was not allowed to enter. The complainant had met the man through Craigslist.
  • A resident in the 7300 block of 51st Street reported that between 4:15 p.m. on April 12 and 5:30 a.m. on April 13, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS device, radar detector and several dollars in change. The total loss was $422.

April 14:

  • A 44-year-old Oakdale woman was arrested in the 6300 block of 22nd Street for allegedly assaulting a neighbor who was trying to hold her back from assaulting another neighbor. The woman also allegedly damaged four yard lights worth $50. A breathalyzer test showed her blood alcohol content at .25.
  • A resident in the 7400 block of Upper 25th Street reported that her son was threatening to kill his father in text messages. The son admitted to sending text messages, but said he wasn’t directly threatening his father.
  • A complainant at the at 10th Street and Helmo Avenue reported that someone pumped $80 of gas and drove off without paying. The complainant got the car’s license plate number, and was scheduled to identify the suspect from a photo lineup.
  • A resident in the 1000 block of Gershwin Avenue called police to report a phone scam. A man called the 80-year-old claiming to be a police officer from Madrid, Spain, and told him that his grandson “Joe” was in trouble and needed money.
  • Someone cut the copper wires in the service box behind the former Kwik Stop gas station at 6014 Highway 36 Boulevard, stealing $200 worth of wire and causing $1,000 worth of damage.
  • Two 16-year-old boys were arrested after they were spotted walking up to vehicles around the 1600 block of Hilo Avenue at about 1 a.m. They admitted to stealing a radio and a digital camera out of a vehicle.

 April 15:

  • A 25-year-old man was arrested in the 1500 block of Hallmark Avenue for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face with a closed fist. The woman, who had swelling and a large amount of blood on her face, was transported to a hospital by the Oakdale Fire Department.
