Oakdale Police Blotter: Police Help Remove Abduction Suspect, Victim

In other reports, bankers warned an 89-year-old man that a request for money from a supposed family member was a scam; resident reported a box of checks stolen from his mailbox

Oakdale police officers helped the Maplewood Police Department remove a possible kidnapping suspect and victim from a home in the 1400 block of Granada Avenue on Friday, Nov. 25, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Oakdale officers helped secure a perimeter around the home while officers checked for the suspect and victim, and after they were removed, secured the home while officers searched through it, the report says.

Nov. 29:

  • An Oakdale resident reported that his two dogs were attacked by an Akita dog  while walking in . One of the man’s dogs ran off during the incident. Police found the dog in the area, and neither of the dogs had injuries. Police did not locate the aggressive dog or owner.
  • A man called an 89-year-old Oakdale man pretending to be his grandson and asked him to send $950 to Montreal. The man went to Wells Fargo and was told it was a scam. He didn’t send any money.
  • A $100 boys bike was stolen from a backyard in the 7400 block of Stillwater Boulevard. The bike is silver with red lettering.
  • A resident in the 7500 block of 31st Street Place reported returning home after being gone Nov. 24 through Nov. 27 to find her mail on top of her mailbox. She was unsure if any mail had been taken.
  • Between 11 p.m. Nov. 28 and 11 a.m. the next day, someone forced entry into a garage in the 6200 block of 12th Street and attempted to steal a ladder, Sawzall and two vacuums. In the process, they broke the driver’s side mirror on a vehicle in the garage causing $100 damage. Nothing was stolen.
  • A resident in the 2600 block of Helena Avenue reported that someone stole a box of checks from his mailbox. An $85 check and prescription was also possibly stolen.

The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents are listed in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
