Oakdale Police Blotter: Police Use Taser on Domestic Assault Call

In other reports, a lost, intoxicated couple showed up at an Oakdale doorstep and someone stole from and vandalized multiple boats.

Oakdale police used a Taser to subdue a 37-year-old Oakdale man after he became combative, Saturday, April 14, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Police were called to a home in the 6400 block of Upper 55th Street on a report of a domestic assault, according to the report. While police were investigating the report, the man clenched his fists and lunged at one of the officers, the report says. They used the Taser on him, and then arrested him, according to the report. Before police arrived, witnesses said he had grabbed a 32-year-old woman by the collar of her shirt and threw her to the ground, the report says.

April 14:

  • A red 1992 Honda Civic worth $500 was stolen from a parking lot in the 6000 block of 40th Street.
  • Police got a report that occupants of a vehicle in the drive-thru got out and may have urinated in the restaurant’s parking lot. The vehicle was gone before officers arrived, and they weren’t given license plate information.
  • A man reported that he left a bag of personal belongings in a home in the 6400 block of Lower 57th Street temporarily, and when he retrieved it, $160 worth of items including cologne and headphones were missing.
  • A woman reported that she was walking her Labrador retriever near the 5500 block of Golfview Lane when a cocker spaniel got loose, chased her dog into the street and began biting it.
  • An employee at the Holiday gas station at 33rd Street and Hadley Avenue reported that a man driving a Budget rental truck hit a gas pump, causing $5,000 damage, and then drove off. Police got the name of the person who rented the truck, and were following up with the suspect at the time of the report.
  • Between 7:30 p.m. April 13 and 8 a.m. the next day, someone entered a fenced-in storage yard at Tanners Lake Sport N Center and cut the vinyl seats of a boat, causing $700 damage and stole a stereo worth $200 from another boat. They also cut the seats and cover and stole a $400 stereo from another boat, causing $700 damage.

  • A woman reported that an intoxicated couple knocked on her door in the 7500 block of 11th Street around 1:15 a.m. and said they were lost. They said they were waiting for a cab that never showed up. Police took the couple to Denny’s.
  • Someone at reported that two men entered the tire bin there and that he saw about 10 tires in the bed of their truck. The truck had left by the time police arrived. The lock on the tire bin had also been damaged. Police mailed a letter to the registered owner of the truck. About $100 worth of tires were stolen and there was $40 worth of property damage.
  • Police impounded a vehicle parked in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue after learning that it had been connected with a robbery in Fridley. A 20-year-old man also sought in connection with the robbery was not at the location.
