Oakdale Police Blotter: Purse Thefts Reported at Oakdale and Woodbury Grocery Stores

In other reports, a vehicle was stolen from a 10th Street parking lot.

A purse reported stolen from Oakdale’s turned up in a vehicle in the parking lot in Woodbury, where police were investigating a similar incident, according to an Oakdale Police Department Report.

A Rainbow Foods shopper reported at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, that her white leather purse was stolen from a cart, the report says. The purse contained a wallet, two checkbooks, credit and debit cards and $380 cash, according to the report.

The Woodbury Police Department recovered the purse, but not the cash, and arrested two suspects as part of their investigation into the other incidents, the report says.

One of the suspects admitted to the theft in an interview with Woodbury police, according to the report.

April 22:

  • A resident in the 5600 block of Hadley Avenue reported that someone entered his locked vehicle while it was parked in an underground garage and stole a stack of gift cards and a credit card. The loss was estimated at $65 and the damage estimate was $150.
  • While leaving a party in the 800 block of Hadley Lane, an Oakdale man saw two large dents on the left front quarter panel and bumper of his vehicle.
  • Someone pumped $59 worth of gas at at 10th Street and Helmo Aveue and drove off without paying. Police have a license plate number and are following up.
  • A resident in the 6900 block of Fourth Street Circle reported accidentally locking herself out of the house when she ran outside to try to catch a loose dog.
  • Between 11 p.m. April 21 and 3 p.m. April 22 someone stole a 1994 Dodge Intrepid from a parking lot in the 6900 block of 10th Street.
  • A Woodubury resident reported that her financial card, stolen from a vehicle parked at , was used for a $51 purchase at and a $600 purchase at in Woodbury.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that her boyfriend struck her several times with cooking tongs, removed the battery from her cell phone when she threatened to call police and took $65 from her purse before leaving a residence in the 4000 block of Geneva Avenue.
  • A Mahtomedi resident reported her bankcard, which was stolen from her vehicle in Woodbury, was used at the station near 34th Street and Hadley Avenue to buy about $50 worth of gas and at to purchase $424 worth of items.

 April 23:

  • Police stopped a vehicle in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue for having no tail lights and three juveniles in the car ended up with citations for possession of drug paraphernalia. One of them was also cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
  • Someone forced their way into a detached garage next to the ball fields at . They had pried off wood siding to gain entry. No items were missing from the garage. The damage estimate is $200. Police had responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. after a neighbor called to report hearing a noise.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that her wallet had been lost or stolen at Cub Foods in Maplewood and several transactions had been made on her credit cards.

 April 24:

  • Police responded to the 5600 block of Hadley Avenue for an intoxicated man having back pain and found the complainant next to an AR-15 upon arrival. The weapon was removed and secured in a bedroom.
