Oakdale Police Blotter: Serial Gas Thief Hits Again

In other reports, two juveniles were hit while crossing the street on bicycles, woman alleges harassment on Facebook.

Police are seeking a gas thief who allegedly targeted the Gas Mart for the third time Saturday, June 18.

According to an Oakdale Police Department report, the suspect, a 55-year-old Lake City Man, allegedly pumped $58 worth of gas into his car around 4 p.m. and left without paying.

The same vehicle conducted gas drive-offs in January and April, with the total amount stolen among the three incidents totaling $162, the report says.

  • A $75 bicycle was stolen from a garage left unlocked in the 7500 block of Upper 24th Street.
  • A man became angry at a residence in the 6300 block of Upper 44th Street and punched the windshield of a vehicle, cracking it, and causing $150 damage.
  • A 24-year-old River Falls man told police he was driving east on Third Street around 5 p.m., and in the right turn lane. He rolled forward into the crosswalk, and a 14-year-old boy was in the crosswalk and tipped over. The boy landed on his right knee, and was provided with a Band-Aid.

June 17:

  • A 30-year-old St. Paul man was transported to Regions Hospital after his vehicle was found severely damaged in the center median in the 3000 block of Interstate 694. The vehicle appeared to have rolled over in the incident. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to investigate the incident.
  • A $375 Haro boys bike was stolen from a yard in the 1900 block of Heath Avenue. The bike is black and green.
  • An Oakdale woman reported that someone made $107 worth of fraudulent purchases on her check card. The woman had her card in her possession at the time of the charges, and it is unclear how her account number was obtained.
  • A 20-year old Oakdale woman reported that a 22-year-old White Bear Lake woman has been harassing her on Facebook. The woman sent her five Facebook friend requests using different names within two days and was also “poking” her nonstop. Police left a message for the suspect advising her to stop all social network contact, texts, calls and other contact with the woman.
  • On June 15, two $424 transactions were made at without authorization on a Woodbury woman’s debit card. A $50 transaction was also made on the complainant’s credit card at the Holiday Station at 33rd Street and Hadley Avenue. The complainant’s vehicle had been broken into that same day.
  • A $180 GPS device, $120 leather bag and $130 gym shoes were stolen between 9:40 and 11:30 a.m. from a vehicle parked at Storm Guard Restoration, located in the 1300 block of Geneva Avenue. The passenger window had been smashed causing $150 damage.
  • A Minneapolis woman passed a check for $138 that was either computer-generated or altered at . The account number does not exist. The suspect was identified by the Lakeville Police Department, which recently charged her with theft.
  • A 35-year-old Inver Grove Heights man reported that he was assaulted at in a fight with his softball teammate, a 32-year-old Cottage Grove man. The complainant said the fight started with mutual pushing and shoving, but that the man then punched him twice in the back of his head and on his face. A friend transported him to Woodwinds Hospital.
  • A St. Paul man threatened to kill an Oakdale woman after learning how much child support he owes.
  • A driver knocked a 15-year-old boy off of his bicycle at 15th Street and Hadley Avenue around 9 p.m. and then left the area. The boy was heading north on Hadley Avenue, crossing 15th Street while he had the green light. The vehicle pulled into the intersection and knocked the boy down. The teen had no visible injuries, but complained of a sore leg. His mom responded to the scene and declined an ambulance.
  • A resident in the 6200 block of 40th Street reported that someone stole the rear license plate off of his vehicle between 4 and 9 p.m.

June 18:

  • The Oakdale Fire Department let a 5-year-old boy out of a locker at . Some kids were goofing around when the boy got in the locker, and another juvenile closed the door. The boy was not injured.
  • A complainant at reported that a woman tried to push $173 worth of items out of the store and fled when confronted. Police are investigating the incident. 

June 19:

  • Police stopped a driver who failed to stop when going from Bergen Plaza onto 10th Street around 11:45 p.m. The driver agreed to a breath test, and was found to have a .16 blood alcohol content. Police located a marijuana pipe and marijuana in the car. The man was cited for driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
  • A resident in the 6500 block of Fifth Street Circle reported that an unknown man ran into her door. There was no damage to the door, but he left a muddy shoe mark.
  • A man pumped $41 worth of gas into a car at SuperAmerica at 10th Street and Helmo Avenue and drove off without paying for it.
  • Between 10 p.m. June 18 and 10 a.m. June 19 someone smashed a clear glass object onto the hood of a vehicle parked a the . There was paint damage to the hood of the vehicle.
  • A 30-year-old Oakdale woman was arrested in the 1600 block of Helena Road for allegedly threatening her boyfriend by raising a kitchen knife over hear head in a threatening manner and threatening to kill him if he did not leave the residence.
