Oakdale Police Blotter: Thief Targets Parking Garage

In other reports, coyotes spotted around town and break-in at The Corner Store.

A truck was stolen, and a thief (or thieves) attempted to steal a motorcycle from a parking garage in the 5600 block of Hadley Avenue sometime Saturday or Sunday, Sept. 3 or 4, according to Oakdale Police Department reports.

A 1994 red, four-door Chevy Blazer was stolen from the garage between 10 p.m. Sept. 3 and 11:30 a.m. the next day, according to a police report.

The key was broken off in the ignition and the door was unlocked, the report says. The truck’s value is $1,000, the report says.

Around the same time frame, someone attempted to steal a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle from the garage, according to a police report.

There was $600 worth of damage to the motorcycle’s ignition, the report says.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police Sept. 2-6:

Sept. 2:

  • Someone pumped $72 worth of gas at the Holiday station at the corner of Highway 5 and Hadley Avenue and drove off without paying for it.
  • An injured coyote was seen in the 3400 block of Granada Avenue. Police were unable to locate the animal.
  • A checkbook and CDs worth $165 total were stolen from two vehicles parked in a driveway in the 2900 block of Hallmark Avenue between midnight and 4:30 a.m.
  • A 15-year-old was cited for underage consumption after someone reported that he was in the stands of a football game and extremely intoxicated. The teenager showed a .263 blood alcohol content in a preliminary breath test.

Sept. 3:

  • A newspaper delivery person reported around 6:30 a.m. that the front door glass was broken at . Police found that someone had forced entry, thrown items around and stolen an unknown quantity of cigarettes.
  • Police stopped a vehicle for having a tail light out at Geneva Avenue and Stillwater Boulevard and recognized a passenger in the car as having a warrant out for his arrest. The 25-year-old Oakdale man was arrested and booked at the Washington County Jail and the driver was cited for the tail light.

Sept. 4:

  • A resident in the 4000 block of Gershwin Avenue reported that someone entered her apartment and stole an Xbox 360 and handgun. The stolen items total $1,200 in value. There were no signs of forced entry and the resident said the door was locked.
  • Someone smashed the front passenger window of a vehicle parked at and stole a $200 GPS device and a $650 stereo between 7:30 and 10:15 p.m. The glove compartment lock was also damaged. Damage to the vehicle totaled $275.

Sept. 5:

  • Someone smashed out the front passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the 6900 block of 10th Street and stole a $200 faceplate from the radio between 10 p.m. Sept. 4 and 6 a.m. the next day. The damage estimate is $150.
  • Police responded to a report of a verbal domestic incident at a home in the 6400 block of 54th Street and arrested a 24-year-old woman at the house who had a warrant. 
  • Someone keyed all sides of a Buick parked in the 6300 block of 10th Street and left a bullet on the roof of the car. The damage—which totaled more than $1,000—occurred between 8:40 and 10:16 a.m.

Sept. 6:

  • A resident reported seeing a baby coyote by Stillwater Boulevard and Granada Avenue around 1:05 p.m.
