Oakdale Police Blotter: Thief Tries to Ram Truck Through Business' Gate

In other reports, copper wires stolen from transformer and apartment burglarized.

An attempt to steal a truck by repeatedly ramming it into a fence just after midnight Saturday, Oct. 1, ended up just damaging both the truck and the fence at Winroc Corporation, located at 5262 Glenbrook Ave., according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Between 1:30 and 1:40 a.m., one or more people tried to steal the truck by ramming it into the gated chain fence at the business four times, the report says. When they were unsuccessful, they returned the truck to its original parking spot and stole the ignition key, which was kept in the truck, the report says.
The incident caused extensive damage to the fence and front-end damage to the truck totaling more than $1,000 to repair.

Sept. 28:

  • An employee reported that doors on a transformer box located in the 3300 block of Hadley Avenue were open and copper wires had been removed. The value of the theft is $1,000.

  • Between 10:11 and 10:17 a.m. someone stole a $150 cell phone that had been set on a shelf in a girls bathroom at .
  • A $103 cell phone was stolen from a backpack that had been left on a bench in the girls locker room at .

Sept. 30:

  • Someone smashed the rear driver’s side window of a car parked at and took bags containing work documents, a calculator and financial information. Items stolen totaled $240, and the property damage estimate is $250.
  • An iPod and cell phone with a total value of $276 were stolen from a student’s backpack during the pep fest at Tartan High School.

Oct. 1:

  • A woman reported that at 7 p.m. Sept. 30, she was walking to her car in the 1800 block of Granada Avenue when she was approached by a former boyfriend wielding a knife. He forced her into her vehicle, and then to drive to an ATM and withdraw $250. He held her against her will until she was able to escape the vehicle on Oct. 1 in Minneapolis.
  • A 24-year-old man allegedly dragged his wife by the hair into a bedroom where he punched her multiple times in the back of the head and face and impeded her airway. The woman had visible injuries.
  • A 16-year-old was arrested in the 4400 block of Helena Way for allegedly assaulting his adult sister. He allegedly hit her head on the floor several times causing her outer ear to bleed. She had visible injuries.
  • A resident in the 6700 block of Upper Fifth Street reported that their neighbor’s gas generator was unreasonably loud. Police talked to the neighbor and found out that their power had been shut off due to financial difficulties, and he had been using the generator at night to power his wife’s sleep apnea machine. The neighbor expected to have the power turned back on in two days. The complainant said he would tolerate the noise due to the circumstances.

Oct. 2:

  • Police took a 43-year-old Oakdale woman to Regions Hospital after her boyfriend reported that she was intoxicated and passed out in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Glenbrook Avenue. The woman had vomited on herself and was breathing but not responsive.
  • Someone reported seeing a cougar or mountain lion on the bicycle path north of , however police were unable to locate the animal.
  • A resident in the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue reported that someone entered her apartment through an unlocked patio door and stole $8,900 worth of electronics, jewelry and coins. She said she lost her keys to the apartment three weeks ago and management has not yet given her new keys, so she leaves the patio door unlocked.
