Oakdale Police Blotter: Traffic Stop Results in Drug Charges

In other reports, a man received a call saying he owed $1,000 for use of a phone sex service.

A traffic stop resulted in drug charges for a Newport and North St. Paul Man.

Police stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Geneva Avenue, May 17, after finding that the registered owner of the car had a revoked driver’s license, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Police saw the 47-year-old passenger in the vehicle throw something out the window, which turned out to be a syringe, the report says. The passenger was found to be in possession of a glass pipe with residue that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.

The 53-year-old driver of the car was cited for a seatbelt violation, driving after cancellation, illegal use of license plates and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger was charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a seatbelt violation.

May 17:

  • An Oakdale resident reported that someone called him saying he was from Allstate Communications and that he owed $1,000 for phone sex usage. The man who called had the complainant’s birthdate and debit card number. The man reported he did not use the service, and some Internet research showed this is a known scam, the report says.
  • An employee at at Helmo Avenue and 10th Street reported that someone pumped $69 worth of gas and drove off without paying for it.

May 18:

  • A man took a $500 radar detector out of the box at , likely in an attempt to steal it, but got spooked by a manager and dumped the item in a pile of women’s jeans. The man is suspected of stealing three additional radar detectors with a total value of $1,500. He is also suspected of stealing radar detectors from Blaine and Lakeville stores.
  • A complainant at reported that sometime between 1 and 1:50 p.m. her calculator was stolen while left unattended on a table in the school’s library.
  • A squirrel found in the 1400 block of Granada Avenue that could not move its back legs was taken to the Oakdale Public Works facility to be killed humanely.
  • Someone entered an unlocked car in the 6200 block of Upper 46th Street May 14 and stole a GPS device and digital camera with a total value of $250.
  • An iPod Nano and change were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 6200 block of Upper 46th Street. The total loss was $200.
