Oakdale Police Blotter: Two PlayStations Reported Stolen from Apartment

In other reports, a man harassed employees after confrontation about illegal dumping and more than $4,000 in fraudulent charges were made on a woman's credit card.

An Oakdale woman woke up just after midnight Tuesday, Jan. 10, to find two men reaching through her roommate’s bedroom window and stealing her PlayStation 3, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

The incident occurred in an apartment in the 1200 block of Gentry Avenue, according to the report. The woman had been woken up by a banging noise, the report says.

The men took off with the game console on foot, heading north, according to the report.

Earlier, that afternoon, the woman had noticed that her PlayStation 3 had been stolen from the living room of the apartment while she was not home, according to another police report. She believes suspects entered through the living room window to steal that console, the report says.

One of the consoles is worth $150 and one is worth $300, according to the reports.

The following incidents were also reported to Oakdale police Jan. 10-11:

Jan. 10:

  • An Oakdale resident reported receiving a text message in October that said “I have your Social Security number,” and then another one the next day saying, “Christmas came early in China, thanks.” The complainant blocked the number for 60 days. Then on Jan. 9, the resident received a text message from the same number stating, “We just cashed out your retirement fund.” The complainant hasn’t had any loss or found any fraud on his accounts. When police tried to call the number, it sounded like a computer modem.
  • A manager at Goodyear reported that a 38-year-old Hudson man put some garbage bags in the Dumpster at the business, and when confronted, he began yelling at employees. After he left Goodyear, he started calling the business nonstop. Police told him to stop calling and not to return to the business.
  • An Oakdale resident reported that someone made fraudulent purchases using her credit card in Texas, California, Florida and Wisconsin totaling $4,033 between Jan. 2 and Jan. 5. The complainant has had the card in her possession at all times.
  • An Oakdale resident received an overnight FedEx envelope from a suspect in Florida containing a cashier’s check for $1,899. He doesn’t know the suspect, and wasn’t anticipating receiving a check. Police called the credit union from which the check was issued and they confirmed it was fraudulent. 
  • A wallet was stolen from a purse left in a classroom at between 11:18 and 11:39 a.m. The wallet contained $26 and family photos.

Jan. 11:

  • A 21-year-old Woodbury man was arrested after police pulled him over for disobeying a stop sign while exiting Bergen Plaza and found he had a Hennepin County warrant.
