Oakdale Police Blotter: Two Residential Burglaries Reported Friday

In other reports, paramedics responded to two cases of potential heat exhaustion, and two juvenile suspects get away, but leave the water-filled evidence behind.

Two burglaries were reported recently in which more than $1,000 worth of items were stolen from Oakdale homes.

Between 1 and 8 a.m. on Friday, July 15, a $1,200 gas-powered remote control truck was stolen from an open garage in the 3700 block of Granada Court, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

On the same night, between 9 p.m. and 8:20 a.m., someone broke into a residence in the 6000 block of 50th Street by breaking out a rear patio door and stole two guns, a bow and jewelry with a total value of more than $1,500, according to a police report.

  • A $250 classic iPod was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7800 block of Ninth Street Circle between 10 p.m. Thursday, July 14, and 3 a.m. the next day.

July 16:

  • Police arrested a 45-year-old Oakdale man who allegedly confronted his daughter and her fiancé with a loaded handgun in the 1100 block of Greene Avenue. When he confronted them, they wrestled with him to get the gun. He allegedly grabbed his daughter by the neck and bit her fiancé on the hand and struck him in the head. The daughter and finance had left the home for a hospital when police arrived. 

July 17:

  • Paramedics treated a 51-year-old man who passed out while sitting on his steps in the 7900 block of 17th street. He was awake, but lethargic, when police arrived. He was possibly suffering from heat exhaustion.
  • A 16-year-old girl and boy from Shakopee were cited in the 1000 block of Hadley Avenue when police found them intoxicated in a pool, after getting an anonymous report. While police were transporting them to detox, the girl began hitting her head against the divider in the squad car and police could not get her to stop. The Oakdale Fire Department transported her to Regions Hospital.
  • The Oakdale Fire Department treated a 9-year-old boy for heat exhaustion and dehydration in the 6100 block of 40th Street. He was taken to the hospital.
  • A canvas toolbox worth $2,000 was stolen from, and then returned to, a home in the 4300 block of Hamlet Avenue. The toolbox was stolen from a locked vehicle parked in the driveway at the home. The tools were found next to a neighbor’s garage and returned.
  • Police went to the 6400 block of 15th Street after getting a report that two juveniles were throwing water balloons at passing vehicles. The juveniles were gone when police got there, however a laundry basket, cooler of water balloons and a water balloon thrower were at the scene. Police destroyed the balloons and booked the rest of the items as found property.
  • Police responded to on a report of an intoxicated woman who was trying to fight people. Police found the woman, who had a blood alcohol content of .33 according to a preliminary breath test. Police took the 33-year-old Landfall woman to detox. Earlier that night she had been kicked out of and given a ride home.
