Oakdale Police Issue Crime Alert After Reports of Burglaries
Police have a list of tips for residents to avoid being victimized.
Oakdale police are warning residents to lock their windows and doors after reports of burglaries in scattered locations from Ninth Street to 48th Street.
In a crime alert, the department is recommending residents:
- Remove house keys, garage door openers and valuables from vehicles.
- Increase exterior lighting.
- Keep alert for alarm sounds, glass breaking, dogs barking, slow-moving vehicles and people loitering or peering into the windows of vehicles, homes or garages.
- Remove valuables from view of exterior windows and doors.
- Monitor the activities of people who have access to your home on a limited or routine basis.
- Establish a relationship with your neighbors that share a common theme for crime prevention, share crime watch information and identify neighbors that might be home during the day to watch out for suspicious activity.
- Dial 911 immediately if you feel a situation or circumstance is suspicious. Be prepared to give details like the color, make, model and license plate number of a suspicious vehicle or the clothing, gender, weight and hair color of a suspicious person.
