Oakdale Woman Convicted for Possessing, Aiding and Abetting Drugs

Kelly Ann Carey, 26, was sentenced in Washington County District Court for aiding and abetting and possessing drugs.

An Oakdale woman was convicted on two counts of aiding and abetting drugs and one count of fifth-degree drug possession.

Kelly Ann Carey, 26, was sentenced in Washington County District Court last week.

The Cottage Grove Police Department was called to the Target Pharmacy in October 2010 regarding a for Diazepam, a Schedule IV controlled substance. Officers arrested the woman, who claimed she did not know the prescription was fraudulent. The woman also told officers that she was picking up the prescription for Carey, who was parked outside.

Carey told police that she did not know the prescription was fraudulent and that her friend had asked her to drive her to Target to pick up the prescription, according to the complaint.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a green pill fall from Carey's lap. The pill was oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance, the report states.

During the search officers also found a glass pipe, typically used to smoke cocaine, which the other woman confirmed was her pipe. Officers also found another prescription in the car that had been filled at Walgreens in Cottage Grove using another fraudulent prescription, according to the complaint. 

Carey was arrested and booked in Washington County Jail, where officers discovered a small quantity of pills in the inner pocket of Carey's purse. The pills were turned over to the Cottage Grove Police Department. 

Carey has been sentenced to probation for five years under certain conditions, including: Serving two days in jail with credit for two days served, serving time under a work release, in-custody sentence, attending Alcohol Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, taking random drug tests and paying $300 in fines.
