Oakdale Woman Gets 3 Years Probation for Striking Car After Drinking and Driving

Nicole Marie Nord, 27, was convicted in Washington County Court for criminal vehicular operation after crashing into another car while under the influence.

An Oakdale woman will spend the next three years on probation after she struck a car while under the influence.

The incident occurred in November 2010. The State Patrol responded to the crash in the eastbound lanes of Highway 5 and Hadley Avenue. A blue Pontiac Grand Prix was facing southbound on the eastbound lane and a silver Chrysler Concorde was off the road on the southeast side of the intersection, according to the criminal complaint. 

Nicole Marie Nord, 27, was driving the Chrysler Concorde on Hadley Avenue and approaching the intersection of Highway 5 when she struck the Pontiac Grand Prix. The victim was later diagnosed with a Distal Tibial fracture and had to undergo surgery.

Both drivers claimed they had the green light. 

Officers could smell a strong alcoholic odor from Nord's breath and also noticed her eyes were glassy and watery. Nord denied drinking alcohol that night or taking medication. Nord said she hadn't had a drink in a month, according to the complaint.

Nord was arrested and brought to Lakeview Hospital where she took a blood test. Nord's blood alcohol concentration was .13 (the legal limit is .08).

Nord was convicted in Washington County District Court this month for criminal vehicular homicide or operation. She will serve probation for three years under certain conditions, including serving 60 days in jail with five days credited. Her jail time will be served on work release. Nord must also abstain from alcohol, attend a MADD Victim Impact Panel, have no similar offenses and pay $200 in fines and fees.
