Police Reports Detail Recent String of Burglaries in Oakdale

Three burglaries were reported this week, prompting the Oakdale Police Department to issue a crime alert.

The Oakdale Police Department Thursday after receiving three reports of burglaries from Monday to Wednesday this week.

According to the reports:

On Monday, between 3 and 7:15 a.m., someone entered a garage in the 8000 block of Ninth Street. They stole power tools from the garage and a purse from the home. The resident believed that the garage door had been shut, and it was shut after the burglary was discovered. There was no forced entry or damage to property. The value of the stolen items totals $1,625.

On Wednesday, a resident in the 6400 block of 48th Street reported that between 1:30 and 2:08 p.m., someone forced entry into their home through their attached garage. Pry marks were visible on one of the service doors, and damage to the other service door was visible. A $700 camera, $700 video camera, $175 camera, $200 worth of travelers’ checks, a safety deposit box key and $2,000 worth of jewelry were stolen.

Also on Wednesday, a man went to his daughter’s home in the 600 block of Greene Avenue to do yard work around 1:30 p.m. and saw two flat-panel televisions on the backyard walkway. The rear door to the home was open. Police went through the home to see if anyone was inside, but it was clear. An Xbox, PlayStation games and other electronics were stacked at the doorway. It appeared that someone had gone through the entire upstairs of the home. A witness reported that between 10 and 11 a.m., two men walked up the driveway, and a small black car pulled in and out of the driveway.

The Oakdale Police Department's crime alert asked residents to watch out for suspicious activity and gave tips for preventing burglary.
