Pond Plunge, Church Threats, Catching Bullet: Oakdale Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Oakdale Police Department from April 20-26.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

April 20

Two people who live at the 3800 block of Granada Way North were cited for disorderly conduct; one was also charged with damage to property. Police were called about a disturbance after one person apparently put snow in the other’s car. A confrontation ensued, and one of them apparently broke the other’s door.

The former chief of police in the city of Crystal called Oakdale authorities to report a woman who had been harassing him. She told officers he was harassing her by using listening devices and breaking into her apartment and watching her. She said she believes he is in love with her. A court case is pending.

A woman who was being tailgated by a driver in a white Escalade told police he pushed her car into the intersection as she waited to make a turn at 10th Street. He then sped off.

April 21

Police were called to the Holiday gas station about a woman lying on the ground next to a truck. An officer found she was drunk and fell out of a truck while trying to get into it. She was uninjured and didn’t need assistance. She was not the driver.

Police were called about a large fight at SuperAmerica (east), but only two people were still there by the time officers arrived. They declined medical attention.

April 22

A car with both of its doors open was blocking traffic at the 900 block of Helena Avenue. The driver was booked on suspicion of DWI.

Police were called to the 400 block of 55th Street after one neighbor accused another of moving her pots; there was a counteraccusation of moving a garden fence. An officer advised them to avoid each other and speak with building management about the issue.

April 23

One person was transported to the hospital and another was cited for a semaphore violation following a two-vehicle crash at Inwood Avenue and North Fourth Street.

A resident at the 4100 block of Gershwin Avenue reported that his tires were slashed.

An employee at Citizens Community Federal called police after she spotted a man who appeared to be “casing” the bank. The license plate for the man’s vehicle came back as not on file.

A threatening letter was sent to Transfiguration Church. It said: “You like to call police on us, you better stop revenge. I will be back again to see you, the killer!”

Police received a report of a man stealing copper from a building at the 6000 block of Highway 36. The man was gone by the time officers arrived.

Police were called about several vehicles parked in the fire lane at Skyview Elementary. Upon arrival, an officer didn’t find any illegally parked cars and learned that the caller was upset that his mother was cited for that violation earlier in the evening.

A resident told police about a vehicle in a pond near 22nd Street and Stillwater Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found the car in the pond, and a driver who was subsequently booked on suspicion of DWI.

April 24

There was a report of three men harassing a woman at Smokedale, but they were gone by the time police arrived.

An officer knew a loose dog, a miniature pinscher named “Bullet,” from previous contacts. While the officer was unable to catch the dog, he followed it home, where the owner opened the door and let it inside. The officer told the woman she would be cited, but she refused to sign the ticket and asked that it be left at the door. There was a similar incident later that week, and the woman called an officer numerous names.

Following a mediation meeting between two people at the 7300 block of Hudson Boulevard, they got into an altercation in the parking lot. One man said the other shoved him in the chest, took his cell phone and threw it on the ground, picked it up again, got into a car and sped away and nearly hit him.

Police were called about a woman who appeared “confused” walking along the 6400 block of Sixth Street North. An officer made contact with the woman, who said she was returning home from her nightly walk and was fine.

April 25

A resident at the 6100 block of 40th Street told police someone broke the front windshield of his car two nights before, and the next night the back window was broken.

Police were investigating after a contractor was suspected of stealing nearly $2,500 in supplies for a job at Physicians Exam One, Inc.
