Austin was booked on formal complaint charges for felony domestic assault and an order of protection violation. He was also charged with malicious punishment of a child for an incident that allegedly occurred the previous day.

The complainant told officers that Austin’s 2-year-old son was treated for multiple "whipping" injuries on Dec. 6.

The complainant said that the boy and his 3-year-old sister were voluntarily placed with their grandmother in Minneapolis and are not in any immediate danger, according to the police report.

Charges do not indicate a conviction.
