Trial Date Set for Man Suspected of Stabbing Woman to Death

Thomas J. Fox, 44, was accused of murdering a 39-year-old Oakdale woman last year.

A man accused of murdering a 39-year-old Oakdale woman last year will go on trial in March.

Thomas J. Fox, 44, was indicted with the murder of Oakdale resident Lori C. Baker in April. He was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree intentional murder during the course of an aggravated robbery.

Baker was found dead in her Oakdale Village apartment by the family she nannied for after she did not show up for work on Dec. 28. Her employer found Baker under a blanket surrounded by blood and Baker had apparently been stabbed to death, according to a report by the Oakdale-Lake Elmo Review.

Baker's 2009 Mazda was missing from her apartment, which led authorities to Fox after finding the car and checking its registration. Fox was arrested on Dec. 29, the Oakdale-Lake Elmo Review reports.

While some reports said that Fox was an acquaintance of Baker's, the Star Tribune reported that the two had been dating.

Fox is currently at the Stillwater Prison for a parole violation for another conviction. He is set for release in August 2013, according to the Oakdale-Lake Elmo Review.

Fox's trial is scheduled for March 11.
